Who we are
ao3skins.org is an independent, fan-made website offering free AO3 site skins and a skin generator. For privacy questions, contact hello@ao3skins.org. We are not affiliated with Archive of Our Own or the Organization for Transformative Works.
Your saved skins
The generator saves your skin names, colors, button settings, source skin, and editing dates in your browser using IndexedDB. These designs are not saved to an ao3skins.org account or a cloud design database, and they do not sync across devices.
Choosing an original skin only previews it. Your first edit creates a personal copy in My Local Skins. You can preview, reopen, or delete that copy in the generator.
Local designs remain until you delete them, clear this website’s browser data, or your browser removes that storage. We cannot retrieve or delete browser-only designs for you. Downloading CSS saves a separate file on your device; deleting a local design does not delete that file.
Live previews
The generator embeds preview pages from webviews.top. The CSS you are previewing is passed to that embedded page in your browser so it can render your design. This includes colors and style rules; the preview does not need your AO3 login or your saved design’s name.
Loading an embedded preview makes requests to that host, which can receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address, browser information, and the requested page. Preview requests are separate from the local storage of your designs.
Website delivery and security
The site uses Cloudflare for hosting and delivery. Cloudflare may process technical request information, including IP addresses, requested URLs, browser details, and request times, to deliver and protect the site. Provider-controlled records follow the provider’s retention settings and policies. We do not maintain a separate visitor-profile database.

Accounts, tracking, and advertising
You do not need an ao3skins.org account to use this website. We do not ask for your AO3 password, take payment details, sell your personal information, or use your saved designs for advertising.
The website code does not add advertising trackers or cross-site analytics cookies. We use browser storage for the skin library. Hosting and security providers may use cookies or similar technologies to operate and protect their services.
If you email us
If you contact hello@ao3skins.org, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to you and handle your request, and retain it only as needed for that purpose or applicable legal obligations. Email service providers process the correspondence to deliver and store it. Please do not send passwords or other information we do not need.
Your choices and requests
You can delete individual designs through My Local Skins in the generator, clear the site’s browser storage, or remove downloaded CSS files yourself. Deleting a design here does not remove a skin you have separately saved on AO3.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information, or to object to processing and complain to a data protection authority. Contact hello@ao3skins.org about information we hold, such as email correspondence. Browser-only designs are controlled on your device.

Links to AO3 and other websites are governed by those websites’ own policies. This policy covers ao3skins.org. If our features or information practices change, we will update this page and its date.
