Using this website

These terms cover your use of ao3skins.org, its skin collection, and its generator. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you have questions, contact hello@ao3skins.org.

ao3skins.org is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Archive of Our Own or the Organization for Transformative Works. Using a skin on AO3 is also subject to AO3’s own rules and terms.

Free skins and customization

You may preview, copy, download, and modify the skin CSS we provide for use on your own AO3 account. The generator is free to use. You do not need an ao3skins.org account or a paid subscription.

This permission applies to our skin CSS. It does not grant rights to AO3’s trademarks, stories, artwork, or other material owned by others. You keep any rights you have in your own original contributions; editing a skin does not transfer ownership of its underlying materials.

Your designs and local storage

My Local Skins stores designs in the browser where you edit them. There is no cloud backup or cross-device sync. You can reopen, preview, and delete your saved designs in the generator, and download CSS for use on AO3.

Clearing browser data, using a different browser profile, or browser storage removal can make local designs unavailable. Deleting a local design is permanent. You are responsible for keeping any CSS files you want to retain. We cannot restore designs that exist only in your browser.

Responsible use

Use the website lawfully and respect other people’s rights. Do not interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, or use it to distribute harmful code. Do not represent your designs as officially endorsed by AO3, OTW, or this project without permission.

Compatibility and availability

Skins and the generator are provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted service, error-free output, or compatibility with every browser, device, work skin, or future version of AO3. Preview your changes and check the skin on your own account. You can change or stop using a skin through AO3’s Skins settings.

We may update, replace, or remove features and skins as the project evolves. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided without warranties, and we are not responsible for loss caused by unavailable service, incompatible styling, or lost local browser data. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Privacy and external services

Our Privacy Policy explains local storage, embedded previews, website requests, and email correspondence. The generator uses preview pages hosted at webviews.top. External websites, including AO3, operate under their own policies and terms.

For support, rights concerns, or questions about these terms, email hello@ao3skins.org. We may revise these terms as the website changes; the date at the top identifies the latest version. Any mandatory rights you have under applicable law continue to apply.
